Blog rivalries

So I finished my university courses last week.
Which means I have loads of time on my hands until the kids are out of school in June.

…what to do what to do…

Oh I know! I’ll blog.
Which means I’ll write about pretty much anything I can think of, as exemplified in my last post about my constipation issues coupled with my inability to fart loudly...that’s right, I have no qualms about describing my bodily functions. Nope. Not  me.

But blogging also means reading other people’s blogs.
I will spend hours hopping around from blog to blog.
I am in my glory!

What I have noticed about myself is that there are some blogs I will not go to.
These blogs and their bloggers are hugely successful.
I’m sure their content is intelligent, relevant, and doesn’t talk about stinky farts.
Clearly, based on the blogs and their popularity, giving them a read would benefit me and change my world in some small significant way.

But I won’t.

Because when I was a wee lass blogger, I did stop in, left a comment, and anxiously awaited a reply.
The reply was condescending and made fun of my post.
Honestly, I would have prefered if these bloggers had not even come to my blog.

Then I would have thought they were extremely busy, and of course they didn’t have time to visit every single blogger that visited them.
I read The Bloggess and don’t expect anything in return, just a good old time, and an appreciation for the finer, gratuitous profanities in life, as demonstrated by yesterday’s post titled Stop Being an Asshole, Target

Oh sure, I was probably overly sensitive to these other bloggers because I was new in the neighbourhood.
I was the new gal on the block hoping someone would drop by with cookies, saying: “Wow! You’re fantastic! Come over for supper next week!”

It’s highly possible I may have misinterpreted the comment, and in fact the blogger wasn’t insulting me at all, only trying to be witty.
Who knows.
I never will.
Because I have not returned to read these particular bloggers.

Here’s another interesting fact though.
These particular bloggers have not stopped by to visit me either since.
Our paths have crossed.
We see each others’ comments on other people’s blogs.
We know the other exists.

Yet there is this unspoken rivalry.
This high school popularity contest.
I’m not too proud to admit that in high school I wasn’t the prom queen.

But I’m not in high school anymore.
This time, I will be crowned! ~cue to evil laughter~

Actually, I’m kidding.
I won’t be crowned.
Anyway, I have my own crowns now.

I will, however, continue to orbit the blogosphere loving the blogs that I read and hoping my comments are never obnoxious.
They haven’t been right?…because when I’m PMSing, I can’t be held accountable, just sayin’…

In the meantime, here’s to a fantastic spring and upcoming summer…in Winnipeg, we may never actually see summer…
I look forward to stalking visiting y’all (that’s for my southern readers!)

    first comment – woot woot.

i hope you don't mean me. I'm a horrible commenter because I'm usually so late you'll have like 1 million comments so I just read, laugh and go on.

I've had the same experience and now there's this one hugely popular blog that I absolutely refuse to even visit, even though I'm sure it's funny and all (whatever).

I wonder if it's the same person?

<--not a wildly successful blogger stopping by to say that I love your blog! I always get a good laugh, and I enjoy your tendency to be totally real. I am horrendously jealous of your bikini shot, though.

Popular bloggers are highly fucking overrated. Present company excluded, of course.

I have a sick sense of humour which doesn't always translate well.. Ever feel like you're always laughing at a joke that no one is in on but you, and you constantly find yourself wanting to say 'Uh.. well.. I guess you had to be there..'

That being said, I've made the occasional blog comment that has not come across the way I intend, then I just end up looking like a jerk or a jackass.

I'm going to assume though, because you said 'popular' bloggers that I'm off the hook for this one.

You only speak the truth & that's why we all love you!

And I totally agree with Ms. Wasteland, they are super overrated. Some of the popular bloggers are ok but then there are others that are snotty as hell & I dont dig that shit :)

    I totally relate to this.

Except I hate to think people feel they have to come and read my blog and comment JUST because I did so over on their blog.

It feels like a “Pity Post”.

Sometimes I read and I have NO IDEA what to comment.

Maybe we should have a protocol for that like the Marines?

    We could just post

(which is Marine speak for Heard, Understood and Acknowledged)

That way I could HUA my way around the blog-o-sphere.

Nothing is worse though, than visiting the same blog time and time again and NEVER

getting a response to your comment.

    that makes me sad

    that is all

My commenting policy is on my sidebar. YOu leave me a comment, I will visit you back.

But I have probably 650 blogs in my Google Reader, and so I generally only return if it's a blog I really, really enjoy on my first visit, or if they come back continually.

And I hate you. (Mean enough? :)

    April 21, 2011 | 8:01 pm

    Mean people suck.

WE do not suck. Well, unless he asks really nicely….but I digress…

I LOVE when you leave me your awesome and hilarious comments. Keep 'em coming, Sista!

are your “crowns” those nice perky breast??? shit girl, give me the name of the bra you wear…cause I'm tired of mine ticklin my knee caps. Just sayin.

Anywho. Hope THAT wasn't out of line *innocent whistle*…I had a few blogs that I use to read religiously…and comment on…and even hung out with the owners of said blog before…but it felt as if I were a puppy dog and they were the pound, if you catch my drift. Let's just say, I read, but don't comment anymore.

  14. G
    April 21, 2011 | 8:01 pm

I don't even bother commenting on some of the more 'popular' bloggers' sites anymore. (Big sarcastic airquotes around the word popular). So many of the comments that people leave just sound canned and artificial, like they are commenting just to be seen commenting on so-and-so's site. And sometimes, I'm afraid that leaving a really honest comment for a popular blogger or a comment that doesn't agree with the others would just end up in me flamed by the blogger's followers. And who has time for that?

I always worry that my attempt at humor may be misinterpreted as being snarky. So most of the time I just read and leave. Not terribly helpful in building blog friendishes, I know.

I do see an AWFUL lot of similarities between blogging and high school…and I hated high school!

Sometimes I feel like I'm being that annoying little kid that's always saying something on particular blogs and the big kid is just looking at me laughing.

But then other times someone I've never visited comes and leaves me a surprise comment and I get SO thrilled and I don't feel so bad that the big kid wants nothing to do with me.

I haven't been around long enough to have a true rivalry…but I feel it coming on and I feel better knowing I'm not alone!

  18. FatAngryBlog
    April 21, 2011 | 8:04 pm

I am horrible about blog comments, in that sometimes I don't reply to comments because I'm grumpy or tired or having my period (or all of the above).

And it wasn't until recently that I realized that some blogs have the ability to subscribe to comments.

But I still read more entries than I comment on.

Often because I don't feel like I have anything useful to add.

Maybe I should do the HUA thing suggested above?

You rock talking about farts. I happen to think farts are hilarious. I did get a comment once saying that farts are no longer appropriate to laugh at my age. I laughed at that comment.

    wtf is wrong with obnoxious?
    I love it.
    I DO it.

I think I know what you mean.

See, that was one of the reasons why I liked you and your blog. Well, I love your blog still, but anyway; point is I wasn't expecting you to comment on my blog, but when you did I felt special and liked your blog MORE than when you hadn't.

Blog love is a beautiful thing.

I'm new here (no clue how I made it to your blog) – I've read a few pages of your shit (am I allow to use bad words?) and I pretty much want to make babies with you (don't worry I have a boyfriend and have no plans to ever reproduce). I think you're funny. Sorry you can't poop (I know I'm leaving this on the wrong post). My name is Ang, and I like to use parentheses.

There are some really big bloggers out there who can't hold a candle to your blog. I know who is a faithful reader of my blog and the blogs I truly follow know I'm sincere in my following. We can't win them all. I woke up yesterday to a new follower and when I clicked their comment, it was I'll follow you and now you follow me. Doesn't work that. I read what I like. You can come to my house anyday. I'll always have cookies for you. Love you tons! Hugs

I like obnoxious comments, so you know, should you feel the need. :) No rules at my place. Except “don't be a dick for reals” and no one ever is.

I'm pretty sure I'm constantly obnoxious myself though. But usually only if there's no coffee or cake around.

Hee, I'm in Scotland currently, at my mom's and it's 20 degrees C. Sorry Winnipeg. I totally miss you, swearsies. :)

There goes the obnoxiousness right there.

    April 21, 2011 | 8:20 pm

I have certainly stopped reading blogs where I don't feel like there is ANY mutual relationship. Not worth it.

I always love your blog and your comments!

  30. Yvonne
    April 21, 2011 | 8:21 pm

You can stalk me anytime. I stalk YOU all the time. hahaha I spend way too much time reading and commenting on other people's blogs. This takes away from time to write or finish writing my novel. But I can't help it! It's like a mild addiction or something! I'd never want a “pity” read/comment either. I hope that those that do come by and read it and then take time to comment, really enjoy it and will return.

    April 21, 2011 | 8:23 pm

I've check out the ones that just reek of kindness and gratuitous bullshit and crack up because, well because it's funny, but blogs like yours are real and reverent and speak the truth about the human condition…like not being able to poop…been there don that….or not!

  33. Jessica Renee
    April 21, 2011 | 8:24 pm

Well I for one am happy you found my blog, because then I was introduced to YOUR blog…and found a world of farting, cursing and HONESTY that I've been longing for and not finding in ANY OTHER bloggers!

I agree with the high school popularity bs and I spent way too much time focusing on that back then and DO NOT want to deal with it again.

You rock, lady and I love your blog!!

    April 21, 2011 | 8:25 pm

Holy Crap, Girl! You have a ton of followers. I never noticed. I love to read your blog because you do talk about the stuff we all want to talk about. I don't want to read some prissy junk about how life is so wonderful all the time. Sometimes it stinks, and the littlest things are what make the funniest moments.

I also stopped reading blogs where I commented all the time, and never once got even a hello. It makes me think they don't read all comments, just the people they like. Where are their manners?!

  35. Texan Zombie Goddess
    April 21, 2011 | 8:27 pm

I think you are a very successful blogger, considering the fact that you will have like 1000 comments and I will have like, one. Maybe it is my dry, sarcastic, fuck you I'm from Texas I like your hair attitude that scares people away. Not sure. I do care though, because I feel unloved. Sniff sniff…

Summer will never come to this screwhole called Michigan either, so I feel your pain.

I'm new to blogging so right now I'm still ok with a pity post! (Yeah, I'm owning that!! What?) I'm really glad to know I'm not the only one who gets super excited about a comment! I totally thought I was that girl in the background jumping up trying to get a better view of the “cool kids”. I mean I definitely am that girl but you know, it's nice to know I'm not alone. And I completely agree with PBJDreamer about HUA! That so totally sums it up!!!

    April 21, 2011 | 8:30 pm

Since I read everything you write, and post from time to time, I know you're not talking about me. I can breathe easy. :)

Sorry for the drama. Blogging is supposed to be fun, relaxing, therapeutic, etc. Not full of tension.

  38. Cake Betch
    April 21, 2011 | 8:34 pm

I don't always comment on everyone's blogs, but if I leave a lot of comments on a big blogger or follow that person on Twitter and he/she refuses to follow me back, reply to my tweets or comments, or read my blog, to hell with them. It's SO irritating. I've resolved to interact with others as much as I possibly can no matter how big or small my blog is because that's where the fun is – meeting people and exchanging ideas and thoughts and getting to know others. If someone is 'too cool' for me then they can (as Midwestern Mama says) Suck a fart out of my ass.

    April 21, 2011 | 8:35 pm

I always feel so flattered when you leave a comment on my blog because YOU are one of the “wildly successful” blogs I read :) I really mean that. And I don't mind snark or obnoxiousness… I can dish it out AND take it!

One day, all of the little peons will rule the world and there's gonna be a whole lotta people who will wish they were nicer to us! I love that you are you, don't change for the sake of some comments.

  41. VandyJ
    April 21, 2011 | 8:38 pm

The blogs I follow and read have changed since I started. And I followed some really popular blogs at the beginning, but I started to feel like I was just yapping around the edges. Not so much fun. I've found better ones to follow now ;)
Keep the posts coming–always something interesting and fun here.

  42. Holly Ruggiero
    April 21, 2011 | 8:41 pm

You tiara is beautiful as always. I can’t believe people would come and be snide in the comments. AND how mean to do that type of thing to a new blogger. Oooo, that makes me soooo mad.

  43. Gina
    April 21, 2011 | 8:42 pm

Oh the joy of a day of random blog reading. Leaving a comment here. Ignoring one there. You are your own queen in your own kingdom. Enjoy it! At least till the lids get in from school and resume their fart tutorials…

  44. Mark

I love blogs that talk about farting and pooping and anything associated with that sort of thing. I have trouble with the upper-class blogs where no one farts or heaven forbid, poops. Where would we be without farts? We'd all be gassy and in pain, that's where, and that'd make us cranky and mean. Hey, maybe the mean bloggers are mean because they don't fart and need to?

  46. Carri
    April 21, 2011 | 9:29 pm

OK. You know I love you. I also know that I'm not wildly successful so you couldn't be talking about me. We're two narcissistic peas in a pod! Smootches!

  47. lyndylou
    April 21, 2011 | 9:31 pm

I absolutely love your blog but I don't often leave a comment usually because I have nothing witty to say that hasn't already been said!

Popular blogs annoy me too and half the time I just don't get them!

  48. The Restaurant Manager

    April 21, 2011 | 9:39 pm

You are totally speaking my mind here!! I mean…seriously!! I love to read blogs..and I'm pretty faithful (excpet my recent hiatus…but I was struggling with hubby leaving for war…cut me some slack people!!) Sometimes I wait and wait and wait and get the idea. And they NEVER come to my blog. I know I'm a small-time blogger…but I still think I have something amazing to say….and that ALL need to read it!! SIde note–I love twitter; but it can be VERY much like cliques from high school. And like HS, I never break in to the “popular club”!

  50. Emily
    April 21, 2011 | 9:41 pm

that's a funny thing really. i still read some of the big blogs, but i never comment. they never respond anyway, so i figure they don't read the comments. the exception is “mommy wants vodka”, she responds (nicely) to every comment.
i'm sorry you had that experience with the rude blogger. i can't imagine why someone would lash out at a reader. isn't the whole point of blogging to share your point of view? why scare people off intentionally? if you don't want readers, write in a diary instead of online, right?

  51. The Reckmonster
    April 21, 2011 | 9:44 pm

I read your blog instead of reading Dr. Spock books – that way I REALLY know what to expect from my son in a few years. And I've noticed on some of the more “popular” blogs – almost everyone who comments seems to be doing everything they can to insert themselves into said blogger's derriere. VELVEETA ALERT!!!!!

  52. Erin
    April 21, 2011 | 9:48 pm

I think that I found you through the bloggess or something like that and if that is so Thank You! I love her, and you for that matter. Bitchy blog writers suck thanks for keepin it real – (Do people even say that anymore :)

  53. laughingmom
    April 21, 2011 | 9:55 pm

If bloggers don't want certain comments – they can not allow them or moderate them – that is the beauty of the system. I still feel pretty new to all of this, but often leave snarky comments (I guess that is how they are interpreted)but not intending to be mean.

  54. Kimberly
    April 21, 2011 | 10:14 pm

I used to spend time trying to get “in” with the bigwigs…then discovered that I wasn't all that impressed. I'd rather go to a blog where the majority of the writing is NEW and actually done by the blog owner.

That's why I keep coming back to yours (well, that and the fact that you make me LAUGH!)

  55. Gigi
    April 21, 2011 | 10:27 pm

9 times out of 10 I only leave a comment if I have something relevant to say – too many comments sound so trite – and I don't want mine to be the same; and I also find that the “popular” bloggers (usually-but NEVER The Bloggess) really don't have anything to say that prompts me to comment anyway.

I try to respond to all comments left at my blog – but I find more and more that people don't have their email attached to their link….

  56. twelvedaysold
    April 21, 2011 | 10:41 pm

Well now I'm sitting here wondering if some of those “funny” comments I've left on people's blogs were actually just sarcastic and nothing else. Then again, that's a lifelong struggle when one suffers from word vomit.

There was one blogger I tried to support because she never got any comments and did kind of a “oh, poor me” post about how nobody commented. Oh, I commented the crap out of that blog! And after a couple months I realized the only response I got from her was a short one-liner in reply to something I had said and so I cut myself off from feeling bad about making herself feel better about her blog.

Okay, time to shut off that word vomit.

That's the only thin with text based conversations; Unless you know the other person well it can be difficult to tell if he/she is being serious or just joking. Something not helped by the attitude some people have that suggests they think they're better than the rest of the universe because they have some kind of special talent, have loads of money, etc.

    April 21, 2011 | 11:22 pm

Yay for time off school before the kids are also out. If I had that I would spend all day in blogland. Mean comments are never nice. I don't understand how these bloggers get to be so big if they are rude when they comment.

Anyway, I always love when you stop by my blog and your comments are never rude or mean.

  63. Monkey Man
    April 21, 2011 | 11:32 pm

I am much too sophisticated to be condescending about your stupid, piddling little blog when I leave a comment. Probably because you have six times the number of followers I have. But quality can't be measured by shear numbers. It is the genius behind the post that matters most. I appreciate comedic genius. Keep stalking.

  64. Shabbygal

I agree about the popularity contest thing! I just have my usual ones I go to only because I enjoy what they have to say! I don”t think you need to worry about the popular thing though because you have quite the following and you are hilarious! Traci

Have you heard of this one: Check it out!

    April 22, 2011 | 12:08 am

I totally know what you mean. There are definitely some blog snobs out there, but I agree that the best thing to do is just ignore them and let them do their thing.

I love that you have a picture of you wearing a crown while cooking! I had a crown that I used to wear on my birthday, but it broke. Now I think I need to get one or two to replace it and to wear more often!

  67. Bridget

Awwww, you said “y'all”…I love it! I follow and read some popular blogs but I don't ever comment on them because they have 8,000 followers and are they really going to remember my comment? Besides, I like following blogs and commenting to people that comment back, that's when you start to get to know that person and a friendship develops.

I'm always amazed when anyone comments on my blog. But suffice to say, when you come and visit, I welcome you like Canadian Royalty.

Wait, does Canada have royalty? Crown Royal, maybe…

Anyway, just remember that life is so much easier once you stop giving a shit what people think.

Do your thing, be they tiaras or fart jokes.

Don't feel bad. About my second week of blogging I followed a 'Big Blogger' and my feelings were a little hurt that I had no response but then later I realized some were pro's and had way too much going on to take notice of me. That's understandable.

I read the blogs I truly enjoy as often as I can and comment when I can relate. I am tickled to death if a blogger seems to enjoy my blog too and that makes it more fun but you can't please everyone.

I have foot in mouth disorder but I pray I'm not too obnoxious too often! And I'm always tickled when 'ya' come down south and visit my blog ; )

As someone who is is no way popular but don't give a rats ass as I write blogs for myself and no one else I don't know where this is going so maybe I should just say I love your blog if I didn't I wouldn't be following and coming back……Oh yeah I remember what I was saying how does one judge what is popular since you get so many comments you have to be pretty popular and that is only because reading your posts either makes someone feel good or gives them a giggle or both.

    Uh oh–I hope it wasn't me!! ;)

I ran across that same situation–this one blogger corrected my grammar once and was not very nice about it. Whatever. I've drifted away from this dame and her group of high school-esque group. Don't need readers that much.

  74. I've been horrible, especially lately, about visiting blogs or even responding to comments left on my own. But I love that I'm getting a few minutes a day to try and catch up on what's going on on some of my favorite blogs…yours is among my favorites. :)

Like always, I'll be back. :)

Those big bloggers need to realize that it's the little old bloggers that made them big…not just one blogger but hundreds of little bloggers. And I love your blog. I visited the bloggess once and docce once and didn't like their stuff….YOU, you are the winner and I will buy you a crown and put it on you if you ever come to my city!

Some really popular bloggers ARE condescending or just all out rude.

Those are the kind of bloggers who giving blogging a bad name.

I never know if any of my commenters ever come back to read a reply, so I don't reply much. I'm clueless. Am I wrong?

I also don't go back to where I commented to see if I was replied to, so I will probably never see your answer.

    I suck.

Happy classes ending, now you can just concentrate on blogging and pooping.

I have a very small blog, don't try to accumulate vast hordes of followers, don't do awards or the blog following group efforts, and–so far–have stayed small enough to personally answer each comment posted.

I have more people that read than comment. Commenters can come and go, but some stop by regularly and become blog friends. Over time I also email off-blog or write letters/notes to a few. I know I am not a lot of people's cup of tea, so I don't take it personally if they fly in and out–LOL!

I, myself, only randomly comment on blogs–but I do pretty faithfully comment on the blogs of people I have gotten to know over time. I am honored that you have stopped by my little corner of the world, lady–even tho I'm just a boring, verbally conservative, housebound, crafty, eccentric, cat lady from Fargo.

You just crack me up! I never know what you are going to say. Humorous writing is a talent that you sound like you were born with. You are a breath of fresh air. If you're not farting. ;)

I agree with you on the blog issues. I don't visit the bigger blog sites much anymore. I can't stand ALL of the advertising. I especially hate blog music. I am PMSing can you tell?

I recently started a new job and I miss the time that I had to read blogs. I genuinely enjoy reading other peoples blogs.

I enjoyed this- oh yes I did! I'm still a wee-blogger and have to try not to be offended when I leave several comments on a blog i really enjoy and have yet to get a reply. I just mark it up to them being big and me being small and considered out of their league. Then I remove them from my GFC list – HA! (As if they will ever know – sigh)

    Yay for more blogging time!

I try not to stop by the overly popular blogs also (minus a few like yours truely) I find myself comparing my blog to theirs and being upset when I don't feel like I measure up.

I can't imagine you leaving an obnoxious comment that wasn't meant in pure fun.

Also and most importantly I would so totally crown you Blog Queen.

  102. Joanna

Totally relate to this post and a lot of the comments. I have never been a popular person and at one point had my own little band of bloggy posse but then they all stopped blogging. Now my blog makes sad little sounds and it's sort of hard not to blog all desperate like.

And you never did say what the pills where – help your plugged up peeps out. :)

Oh yeah. I know THOSE bloggers. Been in a room with some of them who think their sh!t doesn't stink and who always act as though we've never met. Oy. So over them. And don't read them. To me, blogs are about relationships and they just don't get it.

    High school is everywhere.

You know those mean bloggers have to shave their faces and can only get laid if they cover their heads with paper bags.

    Ooops! Was that mean?

Who shivs a git? You're awesome and funny and relevant and nice.

You've had a gargantuan rise to fame.

So while the high school prom queen is busy being a soccer mom, here you are busy being a better soccer mom and also juggling a ton of other things, including a blog that's actually a true extension of yourself.

All of this and still managing to look the right mix between pretty and ripped. Complete with a crown.

I'm not a hugely successful blogger…just doing for fun (and maybe for sanity since it's cheaper than therapy)…but I usually try to respond to every comment. I might miss a few if I'm busy in the real world, but I try not to. Heaven help me if I ever do get successful…like you with 109 comments here…I'd lose my mind trying to keep up.

Oh you crack me up! So much drama in the blog world sometimes. It can remind me of junior high. Twitter does that too. As for farts and poop, my husband and I talk about it all the time! My boys would probably be mortified if they ever heard us.

  112. Raven
    April 22, 2011 | 11:32 am

I don't think your comments are obnoxious at all. I looooove your comments. And your blog. You completely and totally rock and you should be crowned Queen of the Blog World. I had appointments yesterday so I didn't get to read your last post about the farts, but I'm going to as soon as I get back from dropping my Midget off at school.

I definitely know you're not talking about me. a) I have no success with attracting readers and b) I am forever stroking you at your audacity when it comes to posts and I sit in awe. You are the girl in high school who I assumed woudln't give me the time of day but then we clicked for some reason and we crack each other up in chemistry and you never cease to amaze me with your bawdiness.

Maybe some people think you're royalty since you use words like neighbourhood and colour. They're intimidated, I think. Like Sandy in Grease. You're all “foreign girl glamorous”

Then we read your posts about clacking balls and loud farts and amazing moments you share with the rest of us. And we know.

    April 22, 2011 | 12:12 pm

Thanks for visiting my blog. I think its hard to know intent with a comment. I've read comments and thought, huh? only to find out later the commenter really was going for witty…just didn't come across that way thru cyberspace. Congrats on finishing up your courses..I'm sure that feels great!

  118. Hilary
    April 22, 2011 | 12:42 pm

My philosophy is pretty much like Kristina's.. except for the “I hate you” part. ;)

I've been to hugely successful blogs and feel like it's strictly a fan club for the blogger.. one with inoome, that is. If a blogger doesn't acknowlede their visitor either in a comment reply or occasional return visit, it's not the blog for me because a big part of the draw is the interction.

  119. Angela@BeggingTheAnswer
    April 22, 2011 | 1:06 pm

Before I get any further, I must say that I appreciate any blogger who posts about farting. I have low fart-self-esteem, and it took me 10 years before I could fart in front of my husband without shame. I think I need fart-group-therapy.

That being said, I'm sorry to hear you had such negative experiences with big time bloggers and comments. For what it's worth, you didn't let them drag you down – you have a following I could only dream of.

I do get the correlation between blogging and high school. I'm not very socially adept, and I'm terrible about promoting my blog. I'm still thrilled to have any readers and/or comments – pity or otherwise.

  120. Rob Slaven
    April 22, 2011 | 1:11 pm

I love your blog because it's fun. You are fun. And you don't take yourself too seriously. I think getting 124 comments on this post alone (125 including mine) indicates that you are wildly successful at what you are doing. As for the jealous bloggers out there, fugg them.

Ooh, so here's a fun thing:
You know how the kangaroo was named? When the english explorers hit austrailia they saw them hopping around. They asked their guide “what's that?” And the aborigini guide replied with “Kangaroo” which means 'I don't know' in the aborigini language. That's what I've heard anyway…. Enjoy life!

I have decided that every phase of life is just high school over and over again. Gah, I hate it.

I swear I better not be reincarnated because I have gone through this crappy experience repeatedly and I don't need to come back to do it all over again.

I was really floored, after I had my first kid, at the rivalry motherhood brings out. Damnation.

I do believe that it boils down to insecurity when other chicks are mean. I sound like I'm in seventh grade. She's being mean to me.

My point is, when another mother slams my decision to stay home with my kids I do believe that she's trying to convince herself that her decision to work is the right one whereas my decision to stay home is the wrong one.

That's about her and I'm glad I don't have to wear nylons and heels to work anymore.

(It's been 11 years since I worked in Corporate America, does anyone have to wear nylons and heels anymore?)

You've always been wonderfully nice to me, not that I have a problem with snarky. And you're funnier than the bloggess, by the way. Popularity's a poor measure of talent or decency.

Good news….in this photo you are stacked!

I do the same thing sometimes, I read and appreciate but never comment because I feel like they have so many they may never read it. In fact, I'm comment 150 on this post. You may never see this… ;)

I can honestly say you've never left an obnoxious comment on my blog. Funny? Yes. Sarcastic? Sometimes, but I like that. But never obnoxious… I think you're just sweet like that. Either that, or I've just posted at the right time of month. :)

I think I'm too naive to even realize when people are being sarcastic to me. It works out for me though since I'm too thin-skinned to bounce back quickly when people are being mean to me.

One thing I've learned in blogging though is that there are a million different communities and they're all a bit different. I can't handle the not-so-nice ones or the judgmental ones so I just skip them and go where I know people will be supportive. There are so many awesome people out there if you look hard enough. Looks like you have plenty of them here, in fact. :)

Oh girl, I totally understand how you feel but you gotta look past all the BS bc blogging is too fun to spend 5 seconds feeling bad about it! Move on!

Dude- you're pretty much famous. The Bloggess commented on your blog. You just went up a notch and half in my book. Yep, I AM that shallow. :)

I would also like to know what the commenter said…. please!?

They are the same bloggers who love to tell you to become successful to post lots of comments on other peoples blogs. The same bloggers who are too busy being popular and special to participate in commenting anymore. I gave up reading most popular blogs too mostly for that reason. I don't comment unless I have something to say. Most of my blog commenters are spammers :(

Ps… Your real. I love reading your blog!

this really resonated with me. i started blogging 7.5 months ago, so i will always, always be grateful to the fellow bloggers who have bothered to come by and comment and show their support. to me, it really shows that they aren't too big for their britches and it makes me like them a helluva lot more.
