I'm a big, fat, stupid head

This weekend is meant to be a weekend filled with studying for a big midterm I have on Monday about…umm…about…well, something to do with liver enzymes and how Tylenol can be toxic…I think…

I started off pretty good.
Sort of.
I was at the university library this morning by 9am.
I hunkered down on the third floor where only the souls of fired librarians float through the stacks of dusty book shelves.

Creepy, right.

But for 3 hours without any kids, computer, husband, or phone to distract me, I was willing to put up with the horror movie scenario.

The problem, however, lies in the fact that I am a born procrastinator. So in between reading about pancreatitis riveting, I know! I was putting back bottles of water.
Just for something to do.
So there I am, drinking water, reading, blowing my nose, drinking more water, blowing my nose again, looking around I’m pretty sure I heard footsteps but nobody was there, I swear! trying to concentrate on the material for the exam, but of course, I have to pee.

But this is what I have to walk through before I make it to the bathrooms.

See the bathroom icons way down there at the end of the hall?
I have to cross that passageway before I can pee.
Sorry, but that’s just terrifying.
Look at those stacks. How do I know someone or something isn’t going to jump out of those and saw my head off or force me to read those ancient textbooks.
I wasn’t taking any chances.

So, wiggling in my seat, I turned my attention to sustenance. I figured that by now it was 9:15 , my brain had earned itself a little snack.

After scarfing nibbling on the muffin, I knew it was time to buckle down and get some work done.

I did as much as I could.

Tomorrow is another day filled with time, time I promise I will put to good use!
…I wonder if anybody  in the library would mind if I painted my toe nails?

Thanks for the Tylenol link. You should have spent one day at the library and the 2nd day shopping, what were you thinking?

Looks like me back in my college days. Only I only hung out in the scary area if I really needed to study. Other than that, I'd hang out in the "study" area that was more like a bar minus the alcohol. Did I mention I met my husband there? You can only imagine how much studying I actually did there.

LOL sounds like me and research papers. I hate doing them, but they have to get done. Like the other homework assignments.

    Good luck!

I so admire women who have decided to continue their education in the middle of motherhood and life and living and all that.

    You're amazing.

So I was wondering if you've ever heard of astronaut diapers? Might save you some time/angst….

What? Did you move in? The only thing missing is a pillow. Then again doesn't look like you needed it.

Good luck on the test. You'll do great. I am pretty sure osmosis was working in your favor on the last pic'. You are sleeping ON the book, right? Because that is the only way THAT is going to work.

Hahhaha! I can relate to that. That is why i don't often go to libraries. I just put my head in the middle of the book and sleep off for no reason.
    Hilarious post.

I got my effin' wallet stolen while studying for my National Boards at a library. It totally sucks to have to spend the last day before the exam running around to try to get a picture ID so I could gain entrance to the exam. I coulda used that day for studying, LOL.

Sandra you are hysterical. That pic does look like the Ghostbuster library scene. All this will be but a faint memory when you are a full fledged nurse taking care of your patients. I still don't know how you do it all. I couldn't without the assistance of drugs!! lol.

    That library looked cool actually!

That library gives me the heeebies. Are you sure that the place was actually open? Maybe a ghost let you in? Maybe they can help you study. Better yet maybe you could con them into going with you to your exam and they can whisper the answers in your ear. I know, I'm a friggen genius.

That would totally be me in the library. Are the chairs comfy?

Thanks for the Tylenol stress. Let me go read that. I wish you were our nurse right now. :)

I hate when stuff like that happens. It will be the night before an exam and I know I still have material to go over but I can't!! I find myself completely unable to open the book…. Hope tomorrow goes better for ya! :)

Ahh studying. I almost remember doing that in college thirty years ago. I met my husband my first week there so I had four years of being together and a little studying thrown in there to pass and get my degree.

I cannot imagine going back to school with the responsibilities of kids, husband, house and just life in general. Kudos to you!! You'll do fine on your test!

Those library stacks look like the ones at my university, and you are right – they can be creepy. I usually dash in and dash out when I have to go to the library, and use the home office for studies! Good luck with your exam,

    Jane

You know, it took me years to figure something out about studying. As long as I attended the classes (and paid attention) I didn't have to study for exams. If I did study…..I'd flunk and not just by a little bit, by a landslide! I hope this is the case for you!?

Thought I would pop over and see you after you visited me and my blog. I love what your doing here.
I think the last question depends very much on what colour you were thinking of, it would have to be a library approved shade.

I hated studying at the library–the minute I sat down, a wave of sleepiness would hit me, and I couldn't stay awake. I would stay home, shut my bedroom door, turn on classical music, and study at my desk. Of course, this was without any children or a husband to interrupt. It was the only way I could study. And I was close to a bathroom and sustenance!

Your pictures made me glad that it's you and not me having to study. I don't miss those days of studying until you think your head will explode. Hyped up on caffine and other crap that I won't meation here. wondering if I'd ever use all the stuff in real life. Nope, don't miss those days at all….

I think I went to the library once during my entire 4 years of college.

I think your fears are sound. There was a "24" episode where they kidnapped a girl from between the stacks.

The Boston Public library has a top floor where the ancient maps are kept. It is an absolutely beautiful building, and the top floor has georgeous alcoves with antique busts of famous people, hand carved details, etc. Going up the grand staircase, all I could think about was how it was like a scene out of Ghost Busters. Haven't been back since. -J

This so reminds me of my days as a college student. (As short-lived as that may have been!) I eventually opted to study in the cafeteria. The library was too dang quiet!

There's something so unnatural about the quiet of libraries…like the quieter the library the louder the thoughts in my head making me feel like I will surely get kicked out for being disruptive.

Hope things go well on your exam!!

Thanks for visiting my blog, Sandra, and leaving a comment! You have the honor of being the SECOND one to comment(I don't count). Love your blog! I have to say, though, that you must be watching waaaaayyyyyy too many horror movies. I love libraries. Until the advent of the internet, they were my home away from home. I think libraries must have been a lot safer back then, though. Many, many, (sigh) MANY years ago.

huummm, did you happen to watch a horror movie marathon the day/night before said library day? Esp the ones with lots of dead teenagers getting sucked in & out of dreams? I never went to a library to study. I would pick out my books & boogie. that is until I had kids I need the silence… that may be the problem here, to quiet?? ahh, peaceful, no one crying 'mooooommmeyyyy' every 2 seconds, pulling on your legs or begging for food.
I never would of gotten away w/food or drink (other than bottled water) in my library, either… Next time sit closer to the rest rooms, and don't think about using them for "rest"! Good luck on the test!
Loving the new header & look, too.
